We have spent time with Paul working on a strategy for the retirement of a key member of staff. During this process he has been very supportive and he has taken the time to listen carefully to our thoughts/ideas. When I met Paul my business was in a state of flux, to say the least. I was excited and busy but hadn't established a clear path to where I wanted to be. At an initial meeting Paul and I discussed this, he then gave me an overview of how he could help me and my business become more successful. The next meeting took a whole day, Paul asked me lots of questions about where I was then and where I wanted to be in the future. We talked about goals, things that were really important to me and my vision for the business. At our next meeting Paul presented me with a summary document of the initial work and it was very thorough and apparent that Paul had really understood what I wanted to achieve in my business going forward and importantly, how to go about it We had several meetings after that where he helped me implement systems that would make running my business easier. Paul often calls me to check that I am still on track with my plan and offers helpful advice and gives me tips about things I hadn't thought off. As an established business we were due a review of our medium term growth plan and wanted the process facilitated by an external consultancy so that we could remain objective and be stretched in our thinking. We had a number of business coach options, we selected Paul after an introductory meeting with him as we felt he offered us the expertise and best system to review and develop our strategy. As a result we then undertook a series of facilitated working sessions led by Paul which proved to be ideal for us. Meeting John Pomeroy at a Cornish Partnerships meeting in Hayle was hugely serendipitous and revolutionary for us at Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust (CSGRT). A multi award winning marine conservation charity, CSGRT had become a victim of its own success. Funding for rapid expansion was desperately needed to create capacity to collate records from 350 volunteers, alongside delivering a diverse range of events and inputting research into public consultations for statutory agencies. In addition to a lack of funding, CSGRT needed guidance to crystallise and deliver our vision for seals and people, as well as a systematic plan for its delivery. Listening to John gave us hope and strategy and after a short initial conversation, John offered to meet me for free consultation. We haven't looked back. His open, friendly and interested approach, excellent listening skills and genuine desire to meaningfully help us was clear from the outset. In January this year I had a chat with John at a networking meeting. Having meetings over zoom, and then deciding to continue with the original plan (slightly tweaked). Taking on a member of staff and growing, even in these challenging times. I felt and feel reassured that we can do this because of the advice and reassurance that John has given us. John has been a coach, mentor, business advisor and we are so proud to be working with him. During the last few months, Jason has been fundamental to the development of family-run Shooting Reels. Enabling unbiased, educational discussions he has structured a programme for our goals as individuals and those for the company. This includes the processes, culture and products we sell; really getting to the nooks and crannies of Shooting Reels. Our outlook on how we do and plan to do things, as a team is more aligned and focused on achievable targets for the next 3-6 months. I met Shane at a virtual networking event and found him to be very knowledgeable, approachable and engaging, following on from this we spoke again and decided to put our heads together to look for synergies and opportunities where we could come together to support local SMEs collaboratively. We asked Shane if he would work with the AGRI Project on a joint virtual seminar / workshop that would give SMEs in the region an insight into consumer behaviour, understanding your customers needs and how innovation can be implemented. In early 2019 we retained Shane to help us with the integration of a new company that we had recently acquired. Shane was able to quickly dive into the operations, systems and financials to offer some much needed insight. Following Jason's support over the past 15 months, it's our pleasure to explain the support and recommend his help. We had made the decision to speak with Jason French at Business Doctors about our growth ambitions and Strategy when COVID hit and shut down most of our operations. We therefore had the time to plan, and Jason put together and ran a Strategic Planning process purely online. The four-hour sessions took us through the stages of Vision and Purpose, a detailed look at our market, organisational design, roles, and responsibilities and helped us make critical decisions. The resulting growth plan reviewed pricing and created a new customer base. This has resulted in a considered acquisition, opening a second office in another location and more than doubling our workforce; nine months sooner than planned. We consider (conservatively) that this will increase our turnover by 70% and the potential to bring our model in this market to our original office could mean doubling the work force again and the volume of work this could yield would increase by £5million over the next 3 years. We have relied on his skills in implementing our plans, tweaking them to ensure we have the right tools for the job. We fully envisage that we will continue to draw on his guidance and support as we transition into the next phase and have existing plans to bring in the management team for the second office to implement some internal planning and growth with Jason. In addition, two of the board of Directors joined the mastermind course he ran which has yielded more nuggets of useful tips, mainstream strategy and advice that we did not initially expect; again he exceeded expectations and have delivered exceptional work. I have been working with Jason French for nearly 2 years having come across him through several business networking events.
